Dengue fever is a viral infection found throughout Central America. In Panama, most cases occur in San Miguelito and in the Panama City metropolitan area. Dengue is transmitted by aedes mosquitoes, which bite preferentially during the daytime and are usually found close to human habitations, often indoors.
